About Me

My name is Karrenthya Simmons, and I am honored to serve as your 3/4G Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner for SMD 05. I am running for a second term to continue serving our community. I am originally from Detroit, MI and have lived in the District of Columbia since 2010. During my time in DC, I have lived in Wards 1,3,4 and 5. I have a child who is a part of the DCPS community.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting with a specialization in information technology from Michigan State University and a Master of Business Administration with a focus in strategic management from Loyola University Maryland. I work full time in audit, risk, and compliance for a financial regulator within the U.S. government. I previously operated, a small part-time tax preparation business. I’m dedicated to public service and am currently serving on various boards throughout Washington, DC and the metro area. I am a member of the Junior League of Washington, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.

I enjoy traveling, reading, fitness, and spending time with my family and friends.
