Safety, Upcoming Meetings, Erosion Project, Film Production, & DC Water Construction

I hope you all doing well and staying warm! Here's an update on some important happenings in the neighborhood:

Safety Concerns Along Connecticut Ave

The second video includes a discussion with business owners. As a reminder, please avoid leaving valuables visible in your car, as this will attract criminals.

Two Upcoming ANC Meetings (Virtual Only)

  • Regular ANC Meeting: Monday, February 24, 2025, at 6:30 pm. You can view the agenda 2025-02-24-DRAFT-Agenda-.pdf and register for the meeting here.

  • Special ANC Meeting: Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 6:30 pm to discuss the future of ANC committees (Transportation and the Racial and Social Equity (RASE)). You can view the agenda here and register for the meeting here.

Erosion Project at Lafayette-Pointer Park - Zoom Meeting (Feb 20, 7 pm)
On Thursday, February 20, at 7 pm, Commissioner Laura Phinizy (SMD04) will host a Zoom meeting to discuss the upcoming DPR project aimed at mitigating erosion on the upper field and NW corner of Lafayette Pointer Park. The meeting will have three parts:

  1. A "picture-building" overview of the current conditions and the community engagement process.

  2. A Q&A session for clarifying questions.

  3. A discussion to gather community input on preferences for the project.

Parking Restrictions Due to Film Production (Feb 27 - Mar 5)
In case you haven't received a flyer yet, Smooth Sailing Productions will be filming in our neighborhood from February 27 to March 5, 2025. There will be 24-hour parking restrictions on the following blocks*:

  • 39th St NW (between the 5600 block of 39th and Northampton) - EAST SIDE

  • Northampton St NW (between Connecticut Ave and 3736 Northampton) - SOUTH SIDE

  • Morrison St NW (between Connecticut Ave and 3720 Morrison) - NORTH SIDE

  • Morrison St NW (between Connecticut Ave and 3810 Morrison) - BOTH SIDES (near the empty parking lot and PNC Bank)

  • Livingston St NW (between Connecticut Ave and 39th) - NORTH SIDE

*Please note that the list of restricted blocks may change. If you have concerns during filming, please email flaisherfilms@mac.com.

DC Water Construction Updates

  • Week of February 17:

    • Connecticut Ave NW

      • Friday, February 21: DC Water will perform a tie-in of the newly installed water main at Jocelyn and Jenifer Streets NW.

      • Monday, February 24 - Tuesday, February 25: Roadway restoration activities will take place at this location.

  • Week of February 17 - Sewer Cleaning:
    Monday, February 17 - Friday, February 21 at the following locations:

    • 5600 block of Western Ave NW, 3700 - 3900 blocks of McKinley St NW, 3700 block of Northampton St NW, 5600 block of 39th St NW, 5600 block of Connecticut Ave NW

  • Week of February 24 - Sewer Cleaning:
    Monday, February 24 - Friday, February 28 at the following locations:

    • 3700 block of Northampton St NW, 3600 - 3700 blocks of McKinley St NW, 3700 block of Connecticut Ave NW, 5500 - 5600 blocks of Connecticut Ave NW, 5600 block of Chevy Chase Pkwy NW, 5500 - 5600 blocks of Nevada Ave NW, 5500 block of 42nd St NW, 3900 block of Morrison St NW
