Ward 3 Neighborhood News: Peace of Mind, Local Events & No Parking Signs
Hi Neighbors,
I hope all is well. On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, I attended the Peace of Mind Gala at the Wharf, celebrating educators who bring mindfulness, healing, and conflict resolution to DC-area classrooms. As a parent of a Lafayette student who participates in Peace of Mind, I’m especially grateful for the program’s positive impact on students and their social-emotional well-being. The event honored Distinguished Educator Award recipients and highlighted Peace of Mind’s work with 14,000 students across 85 schools each year, teaching mindfulness, emotional regulation, and kindness.
Founded by Linda Ryden, an ANC 3/4G SMD 05 resident, Peace of Mind is making a meaningful difference in our schools. Congratulations to Linda and the entire Peace of Mind team on a wonderful event and their impactful work! Please see the snippet below to learn more about Peace of Mind. If you’d like to support its continued impact, you’ll also find the donation link below.

If you had kids at Lafayette Elementary School in the years since 2005 you might remember Peace Class. You might not know that the Peace program created by Linda Ryden at Lafayette is now a curriculum being used in schools in every ward of DC, throughout the DMV and nationwide. Peace of Mind, as it is now called, is a small nonprofit that trains and supports teachers in using the Peace of Mind curriculum that serves students from Pre-K through Middle School and, starting this year, High School. Peace of Mind teaches students about mindfulness, brain science, conflict resolution and social justice. And they could use your support!
Please consider making a contribution here to help them bring Peace of Mind to kids in every school in DC and beyond.

DC Plug/No Parking Signs
DC Plug continues its work in our Single Member District as part of the first phase of placing electric lines underground. Even when no work is visible, please leave the No Parking signs in place until the posted end date passes. Do not remove them early. Thank you for your patience and cooperation!
