Chevy Chase Annual Art Walk
Last weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the Chevy Chase Annual Art Walk and visiting several talented artists right here in our ANC’s single member district 05. Below are the names of the artists who participated in the event. If you’re interested in seeing more or purchasing artwork, I’ve included their contact information. Furloughed workers impacted by the shutdown can file for unemployment insurance benefits through the Department of Employment Services (DOES). Initial claims can be filed online at dcnetworks.org. Visit does.dc.gov for more information.
DC launched TalentCapital.ai, a new regional initiative to connect residents, especially recently displaced workers, with opportunities that keep you in DC. Through the program, they’re offering personalized career coaching and training in fields like AI, data science, and project management. DC residents who are looking for your next career move are encouraged to explore the site and see what it offers.

DDOT Notice – Sidewalk and Road Repairs
DDOT will repair sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and wheelchair ramps in the Chevy Chase area starting in October 2025:
Chevy Chase Pkwy NW (Legation St–Livingston St): Work runs Oct 6–27, 2025, weather permitting.
Legation St NW (Nevada Ave–Chevy Chase Pkwy): Work runs Oct 9–23, 2025, weather permitting.
Work hours: Mon–Fri, 7 a.m.–6 p.m. (Sat. with DDOT approval)
Parking: Temporary “No Parking” signs will be posted 72 hours in advance.
Traffic: Expect detours and flaggers; Metrobus service unaffected.

DPW’s fall operations will begin on November 3, 2025, Residents are encouraged to download the MyDPW app for updates.
Friends of the Bus (FoBus)
Friends of Bus Transit (FoBus) and goDCgo are hosting a free travel training on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 2–4 p.m. at the Chevy Chase Neighborhood Library. Participants will learn to navigate public transit, use trip-planning apps, and access senior and low-income discount programs. Attendees will receive refreshments, a swag bag, a $20 SmarTrip card, and a free Capital Bikeshare ride.
Women’s Negotiation Workshop
The Mayor’s Office invites women in our community to a skills-building workshop focused on enhancing compensation negotiation skills, understanding your value, and effectively advocating for fair pay and benefits. Don’t miss the opportunity to gain tools that can strengthen your career and support long term success.

Volunteer with Lafayette’s Fall Festival
The Lafayette Fall Festival is coming up THIS SATURDAY 10/25 (2-5pm) and needs a few more volunteers.
